We Stay Busy
Our
youth leaders plan various activities and destinations each year. Some activities planned for 2007-2008 include: canoeing; visiting and sleeping on the USS Yorktown; camping at Fort Clinch; camping at Olustee Battlefield and witnessing the Battle of Olustee re-enactment; camping in Unicoi State Park in North Georgia.
On these camping trips we cook as patrols. Our troop has a wide range of equipment including tents, stoves, and other cooking gear for our troop and patrols.
Summer Camp
Each year in June or July we attend a week-long summer camp in North Georgia or North
Carolina. This allows the scouts to
experience a change of scenery and enjoy a cooler climate during the
summer.
2008 – Woodruff Scout Reservation, North Georgia
2007 – Woodruff Scout Reservation, North Georgia
2006 – Camp Daniel Boone,
North Carolina
The scouts began planning for Summer Camp 2009 as soon as we returned from our 2008 trip.
Fundraising
Troop 110 has several fundraising opportunities throughout the year – with the sale of poinsettias each year during the holiday
season being the largest.
The funds are used to help offset the costs of monthly campouts, troop equipment and summer camp. Participation in these events helps keep the troop going financially.
In 2008 our successful fundraising campaign enabled us to acquire a brand new troop trailer.
